four faves: peter som | spring 2013 nyfw

Peter Som’s Spring 2013 collection offers up silhouettes that are timeless. But even though his stream-lined shapes (think: collared shirts, pencil skirts, and cigarette pants) are enduring, they are anything but ordinary since he marries them with luscious fabrics and whimsical prints. I love his use of uber-feminine florals, lighter-than-air chiffon, and colorful lace that command the collection. But his sexy animal prints and a modern harlequin/argyle vibe fabric are equally appealing. Overall, this collection is highly wearable—whether to the office or for a special occasion, like a wedding or cocktail party. It tickles my inner flirty girl—and when combined with his preppy silhouettes, makes me want to book a long weekend in the Hamptons.
