I’m still smitten with MiH jeans and it’s not just the denim that gets me. The blouses are amazing and I’m dying to add some of the blazers, jackets and tees to my closet. The new black silk shirt dress is a must have for moi (in face, I’ve been coveting it every since the hard copy of the look book arrived with some Spring 2012 MiH goodies). And I’ve included some photos of other faves here, from the Fall 2012 lookbook. Here’s what designer Chloe Lonsdale has to say about the latest collection:
Dena ~ What inspired this collection? Color palette, new silhouettes, etc.?
Chloe ~ “Our muses this season are Lauren Hutton, Patti Smith and, as with every collection, our inspiration wall of photos of my Mum in the original MiH denims. We have confidence in simplicity and are really showcasing proper vintage denim washes in new styles such as the Phoebe, Jane and Topanga, which are all already almost sold out. We used a pared down colour palette of winter whites, chalks and creams mixed with dark neutrals—grey, chocolate, navy. There are also highlights of hunter green, teal and rose red, with the palest sea greens and blues. Our starting point for the collection was the idea of northern beaches and winter surfers —the hazy cool sea, cloud and sand. Place as ever is based around the girl—gorgeous effortless clothes with a sense of vintage luxury. We’re just in love with the calm, raw, timeless feel this evokes. It’s inspired us to put a few sportswear details in the collection such as the Surfer and Pinny Tee, plus amazing layers of knitted Donegal wools and perfectly faded denims.”
Dena ~ Which pieces will you be wearing most this season?
Chloe ~ “My absolute favourite jean this season is the Phoebe, a style we borrowed from our men’s brand Jean Machine. It is the same jean, same denim but scaled down for women. I’ve also been wearing our Breathless style (they sit below the bump) and oversize shirts, as I’m 8 months pregnant!
Dena ~ What other designers are you mixing with your MiH these days?
Chloe ~ “I truly only wear MiH but when I accessorise I go for Celine, YSL and Alaia for shoes and bags along with good old Chuck Taylor and Timex. Obviously when I dress up I need to look elsewhere and find great dresses at Sandro and am recently falling more in love with Stella McCartney—I think I’m showing my age but suddenly I want all her pieces!”
