I’ve had my eye on the label Otis & Maclain for a few years now. At the moment, I’m smitten with some of the summer skirts + tops. Here’s what the designers have to say about their latest:
Dena ~ What are your favorite fashion blogs?
Andrea ~ “Tres Chic Now (obviously), Because I’m Addicted, Oraclefox, Carolines Mode, The Sartorialist, Stop it Right Now, Le Fashion, I Know What You Wore Last Season, also Net-A-Porter & Street Peeper (not really blogs but inspire us) on & on & on & on & on…
Dena ~ How has your line evolved since the launch?
Andrea ~ “Otis &Maclain began as a very small dress collection in Spring 2007. We were not seasonal. Now, O&M consists of dresses, tops, skirts, jackets, shorts, pants, leggings—it’s a full collection! We show Spring, Summer, Fall & Holiday/Resort. Although O&M has grown considerably, we stick to our core axiom; our clothing should be easy to wear from day to night, season to season and age to age.”
Dena ~ What are your strongest pieces in the summer collection?
Shamani ~ “Strongest Summer ’12 pieces, as always, include our rock solid Boy Tanks, Native Jackets & Mid Calf Skirts. New strong styles would be the Daria Top, Edie Top, Diana Dress, Moon Dress & Sunday Dress.”
Dena ~ Any personal faves? Which styles will you girls be wearing most?
Shamani ~ “Love the Daria Top, Tennis Short & Sunday Dress.”
Dena ~ Are there any signature styles that have been updated for summer?
Andrea ~ “We are showing our Knightley Skirt in black & cream crochets now instead of the chiffons & rayons of Holiday ’11. Also our good ‘ol Boy Tank is now shown w/ a hi-lo hem line.”
Dena ~ What are you most looking forward to about the fall collection?
Shamani ~ “Fall consists of lots of bold color. We integrated berries w/ mustard, cobalt & of course, our typical RED. Plus look out for those chevron stripes that everyone can’t seem to get enough of!”
Dena ~ What other brands do you like to wear with O+M?
Andrea ~ “We love The Lady and the Sailor. She offers tons of steady basics that anyone would appreciate. But truly, we both wear mostly O&M and vintage (we are huge vintage fiends). Although we do like an occasional bag/shoe splurge every now and again!”
Dena ~ Anything in particular that you are coveting this summer?
Andrea ~ “Success, health, love & happiness!”
