The Twiggy jean is among my faves so I was more than happy to review the latest collection from perennial fave James Jeans. Dubbed the Couture Collection, this selection of denim promises miracles. We’re talking butt-sculpting, thigh-slimming, no-diet required results. The collection includes three styles: straight, skinny and boot, in dark (slimming/flattering) washes. I opted for the Couture Skinny 1285 Vesper. All of the styles boast a contoured waistband to smooth the stomach, trimmed inner thigh, redesigned pocket shape and size to slim the bottom, and specially constructed inner back yoke and pocket lining to sculpt the hip and bottom. Originally they made them with a bit of padding on the back pockets (which I’m cool with because I tend to wear tops that cover my bum/hips) but they are also available sans padding.

As you probably know, sizing in jeans totally depends on the brand and sometimes even the style. My denim arsenal ranges between three sizes and for this style, I went with the highest size in that range and it took some squatting, wiggling and pulling to get them just so. (It should also be noted that I had a baby 2 months ago so if I were in fighting form, I might have sized down one.) In any case, most people find these jeans snug when you first slip them on. James recommends that you wear them for 20 mins or so to get the real feel for how they fit, and that’s one hundred percent true. I highly suggest that you step into a pair of sexy heels to optimize the flattering factor of these jeans. But you know that 99% of the time, I’ll be wearing them with flats so heels are not required to enjoy the benefits of these jeans.
