Denim Trend: Sweatpant Jean {Genetic + James Icon + Built By Wendy + Raven + American Apparel}

I have overflowing shelves of denim in my closet to fuel my unwavering obsession. I was a very early adopter of the skinny jean, game for trying the wide-leg trouser, more than eager to wear boyfriend jeans, happy to squeeze into denim leggings, and thrilled to slip my legs into slouchy skinny styles… latest infatutation is the sweatpant jean. It’s an incredibly comfy silhouette with gathered or banded ankles.

What I’ve been wearing (both comfortable + draw compliments/inquiries):

• Genetic Val in Au Natural ::: Lightweight cotton fabric that’s great for warmer months; deep slant-front pockets; slouchy straight leg silhouette with gathered ankles that can be worn long or hiked up for a cropped look; drawstring waist. • Raven Wren in Artisan ::: Cropped 5-pocket jean; slim straight leg with wide gathered band at ankle; medium-weight soft denim. It’s a boyfriend/slouchy skinny/sweatpant hybrid. Buy it at RavenDenim.com or Tobi.com. New washes for fall 2010 include Ashen (grey) and Smokey (faded grey/black).

• James Icon Sedwick ::: Combo sweatpant-skinny-cargo jean—three trends in one. Shown in Virgin wash (above). Also available in Coco Brown, Army, Navy and Black from the fall 2010 collex.
• James Icon Joplin ::: Rolled, drawstring waist with contrast banding at the ankles. Shown in Virgin wash (above). Also available in heather grey (see top photo, far right) and black cotton, like a true sweatpant but with stylish details. Fall 2010 collex.
