I heart Heidi Merrick. You probably know this. A word to the wise, many of her pieces sell out fast each season. If you see something you like, buy it before it's a mere memory. Or you'll have to beg her to produce it again, borrow it from your friend who is a better/faster shopper than you, or steal it from my closet. Here's what the always fabulous Heidi has to say about her latest collection:
D~ What inspired this collection?
H~ "For summer I focused on easy fabrics that could be thrown in a suitcase and worn on the beach or at dinner. Possibly washed in a sink and hung in the sun or walked through the tides. And it's true, at least with the gauze pieces."
D~ Which styles are currently in heavy rotation from your personal wardrobe?
H~ "I wore the black Stevie Dress recently to Kelly Rutherford's daughter Helena's 1st birthday! It was Hiver's [Heidi's baby girl] first party and Kelly loves the dress. (She's getting the black in long and the cream in short.) The Gisele, which is our signature one shoulder in cream gauze is very chic and easy, I've worn it with jeans and sandals a few times. But, you know, for me summer is the beach and the Santa Barbara Suit is the only thing I wear. Unless there's a breeze then I do SUP [stand up paddle boarding] in a wetsuit."
D~ Which styles were modified from previous seasons? How did you update them?
H~ "I continued the long dresses from Spring '10 because I felt they didn't get enough attention because Spring is such a big line. I made the fabrics and prices easier."
