designer q+a | Lisa Levine jewelry for Mary Meyer Clothing

I don’t follow too many celebs on Twitter but Justine Bateman is among the ones I do, and I took notice when she tweeted about jewelry designer Lisa Levine. I knew the name from my days as editorial director for a jewelry trade mag (way back in 2002 or 3) and I remembered having Lisa on my faves list back then. If my memory serves correctly we even met at a trade show or two and I featured her in the mag… but that was many many articles ago and I can’t fathom sifting through my archives to figure it out…

The point is, I’m excited to see that Lisa is back to designing jewelry after a few years on hiatus. [P.S. she became a Reiki Master during her break from designing jewelry.] So I tracked her down and got the scoop on her latest creations. I’m obsessed with the necklaces.

Here’s what Lisa and her friend/collaborator/clothing designer Mary Meyer have to say about this cool collex:

Dena~ What inspired this collaboration?

Mary Meyer: “My undying love and commitment to Lisa, an amazing jewelry designer”

Lisa Levine: “Friendship, creativity and collaboration—teamwork and the spark that happens when we share our creativity and creative projects. Mary and I lived together when we went to art school and we were always working on creative projects together. Life itself is a creative project and everything we make is an expression of that.”

Dena~ Do you have any plans to release additional pieces or separate collections?

Lisa~ “Yes, I am working on a collection that is called, Daughter of the Sun. They are big, gold pieces for queens and goddesses—inspired by the abundance that we each truly have inside.”

Dena~ Are there personal faves that you wear often?

Mary~ “I can’t live without the Everything Feather Earrings. I have them on right now!”

Dena~ Were these pieces entirely new designs or based on any of your previous work?

Lisa: “I still wear my feather earrings too! And I’ve been wearing the beaded pieces. I love and want color in my life always. So yes, new + old designs. The gold too, for the goddess in me, so she can shine.”

This collection is offered exclusively at MaryMeyerClothing.com
