New moms are showered with gifts, often including a push gift or baby bauble. My push present was a self-chosen MacBook Pro, so I missed out on the jewels this time around. But when I received a rose gold Matt charm as a gift from Lisa of Lisa Jordan Designs, I finally realized what I’ve been missing. I’m totally obsessed with this understated symbol of affection for my son. It’s simple and chic, making it an everyday piece that I haven’t taken off since it arrived. Styles range from simple brushed white gold to diamond encrusted. I love that it comes with additional wrist cords in a variety of colors so I can change it as desired. Plus, it’s not just for moms, dads and kids also wear them.

Here’s what Lisa has to say about her charming designs:
D~ Will you be adding any new charms soon?
L~ “Yes! My daughter Joey Skylar was born three months ago and I was thrilled to wear a charm honoring her. As you can imagine, I want to have a special charm in her name, so I’m busy working on a new heart design. I’ve also thrown around the idea of a dog line, knowing how much my clients love their pets!”
D~ How does your line stand out from similar collections?
L~ “I’m convinced that the creativity of my clients really turns the charms into conversation pieces. I’ve seen people change the bands daily and wear the charms as bracelets, hang three or four on diamond chains and even gift the charms to proud fathers, who are wearing the solid gold charms with black cords.”
D~ What inspired you to launch your line in 2008?
L~ “When my first nephew was born, I looked endlessly for a special and sentimental gift for my sister. In my search, I was challenged to find something meaningful and contemporary. Thinking about a necklace that my grandmother had once worn, I was instantly inspired and began working on my own collection. I sketched out some ideas and began meeting with manufacturers. After a few samples, I realized that I landed upon designs that I felt were glamorous and more important, special and personal. I wore my samples around town (even without a child of my own) and as the compliments came in, I starting focusing on further building my business and the collection.”
