File this under things I’ll miss about LA. I am so happy that I was able to meet Queen Bee founder Jodi Shays before I relocated to NorCal. She gave me an amazing facial that took nearly 90 minutes and worked wonders on my skin. Normally, I am pretty good about scheduling facials regularly (every month or so). But since I spent most of last year preggo, my poor face went sans facials for over nine months. Partially due to lack of time but mostly attributed to the fact that it was totally uncomfortable for me to lay on my back at all … so 60-90 mins in a reclined position was not happening. Jodi single handedly righted the wrongs I did during that hiatus from getting regular facials.
Let me tell you that I have always found facials to be incredibly rewarding because they are super relaxing (in almost all cases) and necessary to keep your skin glowing + healthy. When I settled into the cozy treatment bed at Queen Bee in Brentwood, the ultra-luxe fluffy blankets provided immediate stress relief and comfort. Honestly, I could have taken a nap but Jodi went to work in hopes of restoring some moisture and dealt with the post-partum needs of my skin. She introduced me to a fabulous skincare line called Sanitas, which my skin seems to love completely. While the spa does offer a great menu of facials, mine was completely customized to make sure I felt amazing during and after, with the ultimate result being skin that was restored and renewed.
Plus, I sincerely enjoyed the additional hour I spent at the spa just chatting with Jodi about skincare products and our mutual admiration for her client Kelly Wearstler.
And now I’m contemplating booking a flight to LAX just so I can continue to see Jodi and some of my other LA beauty queens on a regular basis.
