Bliss Spa Hollywood [Remède Alchemy Facial]

Bliss entrance with flowers

Bliss Spa never disappoints. I'll always hold a special place in my heart for this beauty haven, as it was the first spa I visited when I moved to NYC in 1999. The brand has grown leaps and bounds in the last decade and their spa locations are sprinkled worldwide. I've been to the W Westwood locale a few times since I've lived in LA, and I was thrilled to review the brand-spanking new W Hollywood location last night. In fact, I was counting down the days/hours until my facial, ever since the lovely PR rep booked my appointment. Decadent, was the first word that came to mind while I was enjoying the longest facial I've ever had (1.5 hours). Mia worked wonders on my skin and I emerged feeling refreshed and blissful (but of course). My only suggestion for improving the experience would be softer sheets on the treatment beds.

Highlights for me:

  • Steamless extractions (because steam can harbor bacteria, Bliss preps the skin with a mask and a light layer of paraffin applied over a cloth mask).
  • Good tunes by the likes of Feist, Damian Rice, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, etc.
  • Paraffin for hands and feat, as well as enzyme treatment for hands.
  • Décolleté treated in the same manner as the face.
  • Customized Task Mask
  • Champagne and chocolate brownies!

The clever copywriters at Bliss describe the treatment as follows: "Featuring Laboratoire Remède’s cult classic Alchemy line, this très-luxe, all-inclusive facial addresses early signs of aging to resurface and revitalize the face, décolleté and hands. Includes extractions, hand and foot paraffin wraps, targeted masks to treat issues like sun damage and fine lines, and a decadent scalp massage. (Expect to be asked where you got your work done.)" Enough said. Book it at BlissSpa.com
