The rule on Tres Chic Now is if we don’t love it, we don’t write about it—did I love drinking only juices for three days? No. Did I love the taste of all the juices? No. But I absolutely love the sense of accomplishment that I feel for completing this cleanse. Plus, I lost a couple of pounds and definitely feel detoxed. I also love the P.A.M. juice—pineapple, apple and mint—could drink that all day long.

You might also notice that this post is filed under “maintenance” (which also includes waxing, haircuts, blowouts, workouts and some other things we ladies do on a regular basis in the name of beauty and feeling good).

My 3-day Renovation cleanse was no easy feat. The truth is, I love In-N-Out Burger and, having been blessed with a fast metabolism, I’ve never really had to diet. But after having two babies and my 36th birthday I know that my once enviable metabolism is indeed slowing down, which means I have to work harder to stay fit if I’m going to keep enjoying french fries on a regular basis. I do eat pretty well (shop at Whole Foods, grass-fed meats, have avoided high-fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils for years, organic whenever possible, etc.). Also purchased a Vitamix last year, which has been helpful in getting the entire fam to ingest more fruits and veggies. And I’m about to plant our first-ever veggie and herb garden in the back yard. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to turn down some chips and salsa or a chocolate chip cookie when available. Oh and did I mention I have been addicted to potato chips for as long as I can remember?

Point is, I believe that moderation is key and I don’t want to deprive myself or my family from some tasty indulgences every once in a while. I’ll just have to double up on my workouts to make up for it and I’m fine with that. And when I’m ready, I’ll do another cleanse to reset, refresh and renew… maybe even a 5-day program!

If you are new to cleansing, like I was, make sure you are prepared. Don’t eat a steak dinner the night before. You should absolutely enlist the help of some friends to do it with you for extra support. (My cleanse was organized by my instructor at The Dailey Method and I pinged her more than once with questions and/or complaints). It also helps to have the BP Cleanse crew on twitter:

Would I do it again? If you’d ask me on day 1 or 2, I would have said no. But now I’m saying yes!
