Flashback to 1991. We rooted for Dylan and Brenda. We rocked the Nirvana concert with the seldom-heard-of opening band Pearl Jam. And when in doubt, we looked to the mainstay in our closet: our favorite pair of jeans. The ones that were faded, frayed, and—contrary to what our moms thought— so perfect in every way.

My taste in denim has refined somewhat in the last 20 years. But MAC seemed to channel the innate awesomeness of my long-lost jeans with their new collection, Jeanius.

I sampled Diva in Distress eye shadow, a moody, bluesy, silvery shade with detailing that looks just like my beloved denim. I originally balked at the idea of blue eye shadow, but this goes on very sheer and adds a nice finish, especially when paired their lipstick in Riveting Rose.

As always, these collections are limited edition and sell out fast. Buy it before it’s gone at Nordstrom.
