W Los Angeles-Westwood in conjunction with LA-fashion brand fLuXuS, announced the launch of a W Happenings art and fashion exhibition. The exhibition is on display in W Los Angeles-Westwood’s chic Living Room from now through the end of 2010 with an opening night reception (by invitation only) on October 13. Produced by fLuXuS, the exhibit showcases their current Fall/Winter collection mixed with Avant Garde mannequins.  As expressed in the press release, “fLuXuS embodies art in every garment incorporating simple but tactile materials such as jersey cotton, sheer modal, tri-blend and the signature hand of the burnout in avant-garde shapes and cuts. fLuXuS breaks away from tradition and encourages the advancement of self-expression through fashion.”

French Canadian, CEO and Founder, Martin Paquette started the clothing line in Los Angeles in 2007.  The  brand name comes from the Latin word “to flow”. The fLuXuS art movement blends visual art, music and literature.  Through performance pieces, sculptural works featuring unconventional materials they seek to blur the lines between performer and audience.

In 2009, fLuXuS hired winner of Project Runways’ third season, Jeffrey Sebelia as head designer.  The brand’s Fall 2010 collection “re-defines and challenges traditional silhouettes in sheer modal, burnout, sweater fabrics and constructed designs”.  “fLuXuS is definied by versatility, a blend of classic fashion and modern flair” explains visionary Paquette. The subject and venue of this exhibition have a shared vision of bringing “culturally intriguing images and beautiful artwork” together.
